This author and researcher discovered the long lost city of Mesha-Naxuan, in June of 1997. There are nearly a thousand worn down building foundations seen in the photo extending for a mile or more, some of which are still visible even from the ground as we shall see in the following photos.

The white limestone rocks of the upthrust "horst" escarpment, which is several hundred feet high on the northern face, consists of Creataceous sediments and is non- volcanic unlike the surrounding peaks of this region.
